Butt Augmentation
For those of us who are not naturally blessed with the round rump look of JLo, up until recently there were few options out there to help with flat bum syndrome. But since the curvaceous Beyonce burst onto the scene looking totally bootylicious, there has been a growing demand for plastic surgery butt lifting treatments.
Buttock augmentation, or the butt lift, is a relatively new procedure that can add more volume and shape to a flat bottom. Contouring with liposuction and fat transfers have also become more popular procedures. Buttock Implants unfortunately have not seen longevity; there have been many reports of the implants eroding through the tissue not making it a long-term viable option. The best option out there has been the liposuction with autologous fat transfer to the buttock area.
PMMA and other artificial fillers that are being done in other countries, like Brazil, has lead to many reports of abscesses/infections requiring surgical drainage. These permanent foreign implants are noticed as not native to the human body and the body attempts to reject them. So at Glow we chose procedures that are safer for the patient and effective. We perform fat transfers!
Procedure
Fat transfer or fat grafting is performed in our AAAHC accredited OR facility that is located in our building. We perform the treatment under local anesthesia while you are awake and pain free! For more sensitive or nervous patients we can do the procedure under MAC anesthesia (AKA conscious sedation). Fat grafting takes fat from one area of the body and adds it to the buttock area. During fat transfer, fat is taken directly from an area of your body where you would like the extra fat removed. And who wouldn’t like a little less thigh or tummy? The fat is then placed into the muscle layer of the buttocks to create more volume and fullness. This technique is a more natural alternative to a buttock implant procedure and it gives you the smooth and natural look you want. Because this procedure does not require large incisions, the results are usually scar-free. You may need multiple treatments.
Recovery
Fat transfer recovery is generally not long. After surgery, there will be discomfort and tenderness in the surgical area, since we use local anesthesia the pain is significantly less when compared to placing a patient under general anesthesia, the reason being that we instill lidocaine into the area of surgery and the effects of this anesthetic medication last for 12-24 hours after surgery! Swelling and bruising is normal, but will subside after a few days, and you will be able to return to work within three to five days. We do suggest Arnica Montana to reduce the bruising and swelling significantly compared to placebo post surgery. We ask that you wear a compression garment for up to two weeks to help in the recovery process. After approximately three weeks you should be able to take up your normal activity and exercise routine with new, shapely buttocks.
Risks
All surgery carries some inherent risk, and should be carefully discussed with us during your consultation. Fat transfer risks include the small risk of infection in both the graft removal area and the insertion site.
